ABOUT GRAY LAXTON
Gray is a current student at Marymount Manhattan College, graduating in the fall of 2025 with a BFA in Choreography, a BA in Graphic Design, and a minor in Psychology. As an artist, they see themselves as ever-evolving, working across multiple disciplines that inspire and inform one another. Their greatest aspiration as an artist is to create work based off of their personal experience with the neurological phenomenon of synesthesia. They discovered in middle school that they have audio-visual synesthesia, which allows them to perceive sounds as visual elements. This discovery ignited their passion for blending psychology, visual art, and dance. Their artistic mission is to use their synesthetic perception as a tool for creation, exploring how sensory experiences can shape storytelling.
They draw inspiration from sociology and psychology, often channeling these influences into pieces that explore the complexities of the human condition. Their work seeks to uncover the depth of this shared experience through textural qualities that subtly shape and inform our interactions as humans, often beyond our conscious awareness. Each project they undertake becomes a multifaceted exploration. This interdisciplinary approach allows them to engage with the emotional and textural qualities of the work, striving to bring its essence to life.
